At the end of the run could find few more runners had run may be they

Post run there was very good stretch session. Also was lot of Internal

Thursday LSD Run from Alwarpet - Post Run Report

Hi Runners,

I did not want to miss today's LSD as I wanted real fresh oxygen for
my body to get charged up for the upcoming Auroville Marathon. Though
I reached late by 10 minutes, I saw Shameek and Shahnaz running down
the St. Mary's Road.

I reached the start point stretched myself for 5 minutes and began the
run at around 5:30 am and decided to do between 9-10k.

The climate was perfect except for the slight humid. I was running
alone towards the regular route of LSD run and when I was about to
reach Rajaji Bhavan, I saw Shameek and Shahnaz running back to
Alwarpet. I joined them and their pace was much faster but decided to
tag along. Saw Srinath running towards his home and waved and he
wished us for a nice day ahead. Just few minutes later we saw Rajesh
and Akila running down ( may be they started around 5:45 am) and we
waved hands. Now the pace was getting faster and faster and I could
tag along with them till Malar Hospital bridge and then decided to
slow down and run at my pace.

Shameek and Shahnaz vanished out of my sight in few minutes and I
finished the 9.96km run in 1h:08m.

Since Shameek and Shahnaz did the regular LSD route till Velankanni
Church and back their run was about 12.5kms.

Finally it was a good run for us enjoyed every step.

P.S: Chennai would soon become hotter and hotter in coming days and
don't miss the chance to run in this cooler climate!!!!!!

Republic Day Run at Alwarpet - Post Run Report

Hi All,

You all know today we are celebrating our 61st Republic Day and we
were Seven of us at the C P Ramasamy Road.

1.Ram Viswanathan
2.Karthik Padmanabhan
3.Senthilanand
4.Bharani Shivakumar (He had already done 8.5 kms and he joined us)
5.KK
6.Aparna (Our guest for the Republic Day Run from Bangalore)
7.Shankar Lal M Patel (This was my first run after SCMM 2010)

I reached the start point at about 5:12am and then we decided the
route to be Boat Club, Kotturpuram Road, enter IIT through Exit Gate
(that's a secret shared by Ram) run till Gajendra Circle and run back
to start point.

We started the run at about 5:19am and the lead runner was Bharani
and lead group was Ram, Karthik and Senthilanand. I was running alone
and following me were KK and Aparna. We did the boat club loop and at
the end of the loop I felt mild cramp on the right calf ( I did not
stretch properly before run) and stopped running and stretched that
part and in the meanwhile KK and Aparna had overtaken me. I slowly
build up pace and joined them before the new flyover.

I asked Aparna how long she has been running and she replied she
runs 8-9 kms or run on treadmill for the past three years. I asked her
this question as she was running effortlessly.

We reached the exit gate of IIT and was closed and went ahead to
enter through the Main Gate. We saw Bharani running out of Main Gate
as he was not let in and later learned that even Ram,Karthik and
Senthilanand were also not allowed to enter. After seeing Bharani, KK
was reluctant to enter and I insisted to get in. KK, Aparna and myself
tried our luck and no one cared to stop us as the security guys were
busy checking a Tavera.

As soon as we entered, Aparna felt good by the change in the
environment and also our guest had chance to spot the beautiful
spotted Deers. We soon hit the Gajendra Circle and took right turn and
started running back. We had done almost 9 kms by then and never felt
thirsty and only then I realised, I was wearing fuel belt and offered
water to Aparna and KK. To be frank after this I wanted a walk break
but Aparna was just running and running and had to just run. We came
out of IIT and ran through the same route and by the time we reached
the Kotturpuram Bridge, my right thigh muscles were getting mild
cramps and I started walking asking KK and Aparna to go ahead.

I took a shorter route to reach the start point and found Ram giving
instructions to Karthik and Senthilanand for yoga postures. Few
minutes later KK and Aparna had arrived and Aparna was surprised to
see me as she knew I was left behind. I shared an incident from movie
3 Idiots which meant to Win a race either you have to be the fastest
or kill the competition. I did the later by taking a shorter route!!!!

When I checked my Garmin it read 13.42 kms, KK and Aparna would
have done atleast 1k extra and Ram,Karthik and Senthilanand did around
11.5 k. Bharani was doing his 30k in preparation for his maiden full
marathon at Auroville. @ Bharani: Hope you had a good run.

Then followed the stretching session coupled with Q&A session by
Ram about the Republic Day. Q&A session was really informative and no
one had answers for questions except for a couple of questions. Thanks
Ram for the information.

We dispersed wishing each other Happy Republic Day.

Thursday LSD Run (07/01/2010) - Post Run Report

Hi All,

Today we had a guest runner from London, UK who has completed one marathon and has done many 10k runs and his PB is 37 mins for 10k run!!!! Just imagine he declared this to me and I was the only runner to tag along with him. His name is Tim and yes finally he found the start point.

We started around 5:20 am and right from the beginning the pace was sub 6 mins for 1k and I could tag along with him for 3 kms and then I had to walk as I was running out of breath. But this pace was normal for Tim and he was kind enough to stop running and walk along with me and had lot of discussions about running and by then Srinath joined us and he had done his 9k by this time and was going back to his house. Once again we started running and the pace was relatively slower compared to the previous and was ok for me. We reached Velankanni Temple and bade good bye to Srinath and we started our run back. While we were about to cross the road to get into the Judges Colony, Balaji was there and I felt relieved because now Balaji can run with Tim and I can walk for some time.

Balaji and Tim zoomed and I ran at my normal pace. It was good run and felt good. Did some stretching and we all dispersed.

New Year 2010 Run from Alwarpet - Post Run Report

Hi All,

I had decided to start the New Year 2010 with a run and so was decided by Ram, Puru and Narayanan and were there at C P Ramasamy Road.

Though we started late (due to me), at 5:30 am and not taken the route declared in Ram's mail for valid reasons.

We decided to run through Boat Club, River View Road, Kotturpuram Railway Station, Gandhi Nagar 4th Main Road, Malar Hospital, Greenways Road and De Monte Colony to reach the Start Point.

The climate was chilly and good for running. Ram and Puru were together and Narayanan and me running at a slightly lower pace just behind them. I was taken through a totally new route which I have not run and was exploring the new route and was enjoying.

When we reached the Gandhi Nagar Tennis Club, suddenly Ram and Puru came running behind of us and later learned, they were stopped by a Gang of Dogs and then Ram had lost the way and hence they were left behind. Now I joined Ram and Puru joined Narayanan. Ram and me ran non-stop to the Start Point and just few minutes later Narayanan and Puru also finished their run.

Had a good stretch session and we all left.

It was a good 10.79kms run as per my Garmin Data done in 1h:11mins at an avg pace of 9km/h.

On my way to Home, I saw Venkatesh running on the Kotturpuram Road towards Cancer Institute and I met him had a brief chat and left.
