Most of them decided to do half marathon distance since the climate was awesome.. Rajamanickam had shared GU energy chews just before the start and we all started the run at around 5:19 am.
Just after couple of minutes into running there were four to five groups as per the pace and was nice to see such a big crowd after a long time. The weather was breezy, cloudy and less humid and was perfect for the runners.
I was running with Dr.Barefoot Deepan who just come from US recently and has one Half Marathon and Full Marathon under his belt and was running with Vibram Five Fingers (Next best to Barefoot Running, was inspired after reading "Born to Run" and transformed himself from Shoes to Barefoot (Zero Cushioning) running. The transformation was not that easy at initial stages and then got used to it and saw lot of change in his running form.
While going through the besant avenue Niranjan joined us and Deepan shared many running related information. Once such information was adopting "Timeless Running", which means you don't wear any gadget to keep track of distance, time, HR, laps etc. This does away the mental restrictions that prop-up after looking into the statistics and makes you feel you are done mentally.
We three of us ran together till the end though I had to take 2 short walk breaks. By the time we finished we saw Tiger and Venkat Rangan who had done 7k run. Then they had gone to bring Harishankar for the breakfast.
After sometime Ashok, Ananth who ran around 18k came in followed by Rajamanickam, his friend, Ram, Saravanan, Ramesh Seshadri and his team who all did half marathon distance.
Later Harishankar came and he wanted to run 100m and hence we all took him to the AU track and he ran 400m along with us, his first run after nearly six months and he felt good.
There was stretching session led by Yash followed by breakfast at canteen and then we all dispersed.
